As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. We have counted the cost, we have made the choice, We will follow our God and obey His voice. From this day and for the rest of our lives, We will serve the Lord. We will not bow to another god, We will have no other gods but You, We will not serve two masters, We surrender our lives to You.
~ Tom Brooks, Don Harris, Martin J. Nystrom
Hello church family Happy Monday!! I know for most of us it's not a very popular thing to hear or say, however, I am reminded by this song that as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. We we thin about it in this concept it is a Happy Day everyday that we get a chance to serve God. My prayer for us this week is that God would give us the opportunity to serve Him by serving others!! But be reminded that we must be willing and receptive to the Holy Ghost in order to be effective servants!! Let's see what Day 6 of the devotional Songs 4 Worship has for us:
What better example to your family than proclaiming and living the words, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"? Most people, especially children, learn by example. When you take a stand for God, not only proclaiming His lordship over your life but also living it to the fullest, others will learn to do the same. However, someties we run into trouble. Many daily activities tend to take priority over our lives: the quest for a promotion at work, striving to be a top athlete, or pursuing excellence in academics. While all are noble causes, when we slip into seeking to control our lives in order to reach our goals, we rebel against the lordship of Jesus Christ and we are serving other gods. God knows the desires of our hearts. He knows our needs and our wants. He wants us to be happy, but He also knows what is best for us. When we decide to serve the Lord, we open ourselves to His blessings. When we surrender oursleves to His will, we choose to let Him be Lord of our lives - every part of them. Have you made the choice? Who will you and your family serve? Can you say with confidence, " As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"? How will you make that a reality in your home today?
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my house, we will seve the LORD. Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)
Waow, what a challenge!! As TRUE christians this shouldn't be a choice, this should be a desire!! It is not, however, an easy task to achieve. We must choose to serve God in our lives, in the movies we watch, in the books we read, in the way we deal with our family, friends and co-workers. But don't worry We have the power within us to do it The Holy Ghost "The Counselor and the Comforter" Ask Him to give you the wisdom and He will!! Love you Jose |
