Piles of laundry waiting to be washed, dried, and put away: 6 hours Unsuccessful attempt at potty training a 2-year old: 12 hours No errands run due to having to stay home and potty train: 2-3 hours A to-do list a mile long with only a couple things marked off: 20 hours Taking time to put together a craft turkey for a kindergarten project made out of rocks, candy corns and pretzels, play a home-made version of Blues Clues, and talk about God’s precious Word, then hearing the words, “You are the best mom in the world” – PRICELESS ******************************************************************* God has been nudging me and my Martha self to stop, be still and listen. While that irritates me given everything that needs to be done in the course of a day (even though it will just be repeated again tomorrow), I made a choice to slow down today and stay home. What a blast I had with my children. Thank you Lord for helping me choose today to focus the entire day, not just parts of it, on what is truly important. Help me to learn to become a Mary in a Martha world. “[Martha] had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word… But one thing is needed and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 11:39, 42 |
