Invite them to church.

We have a neighbor to the north of us (let's call her "P" for HIPPA's sake). She is an older woman who has been through a divorce and her children are all grown. We keep inviting her to church, but she never comes. We keep inviting her just the same because I really believe one day "P" will walk through our church doors, and it will be a great day!

Hi Randy.

This is a good topic.  Lots of people get put off when they are invited to church as Drama Queen suggests.  Instead we should first gain their confidence by talking to them and when they observe a  difference between us believers and others then share the word of God with them. I think the next step is to invite them. Lots of folks think church is for the holy people and 'sinners' are not permitted inside holy territory.

Try living in front of your parents for seven years.  That will test 'loving your neighbor'!  :o)  I show them I love them by answering the door.

Nah, I'm kidding.  I think a good way to show your neighbors you love them is by respecting each other and each other's space.  Also, by taking care of what is around you!

All right, I hear you loud and clear! The flock of pink plastic flamingos in our front yard will mysteriously disappear tonight.

Help them do something that needs done around their home, inside or out.  Invite them over for dinner.

Okay, coming from the cookie queen of the old neighborhood... Seriously, I tried really hard to bring something to new neighbors (and to the other neighbors when we first moved in). I love to bake, so I often made a huge batch of cookies and took them to various neighbors. That definitely opened a door to talk with them more often. So, how would we want to be treated? I know that I definitely more receptive to people that I have built a relationship with. Two weeks ago in Sunday School, Dr. Towns had us raise our hands to take a poll of how we came to know Christ. (Through a revival meeting of some sort, door-to-door, radio/TV or by friends/family asking us to church). 86% of the class came to Christ through some sort of interaction with friends and family. So that tells me to care about my neighbors...build relationships with them...AND ask them to church or share the Gospel with them. :)

Cheryl - you missed a flamingo.  And do something with the junker out back.  Noooo, I'm not talking about John.  :o)
