20:1 + 20:2 \20:1\ The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; 20:3 \20:2\Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; 20:4 \20:3\Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. 20:5 \20:4\Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. 20:6 \20:5\We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up [our] banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. 20:7 \20:6\Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 20:8 \20:7\Some [trust] in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 20:9 \20:8\They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. PSALM 20 : 1-9 GROWING UP AS A CHILD IN THE 1950'S , I WOULD HEAR ADULTS USE THE PHRASE YADA,YADA,YADA." I HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANT. BUT LATER IN LIFE AS I STUDIED MY BIBLE I FOUND THAT THE WORD "YADA" IS A HEBREW WORD, WHICH MEANS"I KNOW." IT CAN BE FOUND IN VERSE 6 WHERE THE PSALMIST SAYS, "NOW KNOW I THAT THE SAVETH..." THE PSALMIST KNOWS AND EXPRESSES THAT THE LORD SAVES THE ANOINTED.
TODAY THOSE WHO ARE SAVED ALSO KNOW THE LORD SAVES THEM. IT IS AN UNDERSTANDING, WHICH THE GRACE OF GOD GIVES US THAT WE MAY KNOW HE DELIVERS US FROM THE PENALTY OF OUR SIN AND GIVES US VICTORY OVER SIN. THE APOSTLE JOHN EXPRESSED THIS WHEN SAID, "THESE THINGS HAVE I WRITTEN UNTO YOU THAT BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD"(1JOHN 5:13).
THE PSALMIST DECLARES, "....CONTRASTS TRUSTING THE LORD WHEN HE SHARES THAT "SOME TRUST IN CHARIOTS, AND SOME IN HORSES" (VERSE 7). IT IS POWER AND STRENGTH OTHER THAN THE LORD THAT MEN CHOOSE TO PLACE THEIR TRUST IN . IT IS A TRUTH HELD BY MANY EVEN UNTO THIS DAY. IT IS NOT THE MIGHT THAT GOD GIVES US THAT WE ARE TO TRUST IN, BUT IT IS THE LORD HIMSELF. "MY DEFENCE IS OF GOD, WHICH SAVETH THE UPRIGHT IN HEART"(PSALM 7:10)
FINALLY, THE PSALMIST DECLARES,"....BUT WE WILL REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE LORD OUR GOD"(VERSE 7). TO DO OTHER WISE IS TO BE DEFEATED AND SWALLOWED UP IN OUR TROUBLE (VERSE 8).
JUST AS THE PSALMIST CONCLUDED, LET US ALSO CALL UPON THE LORD TO SAVE US," SAVE, LORD.... (VERSE 9). YADA, YADA, YADA! "
