Hope you are having a good afternoon. It is dark and grey outside and they are calling for the first bad weather of the season, sleet and snow. I don't think they are calling for much if any accumulation. It has been unusually warm around here now it is starting to feel like fall. Sometimes people ask what kind of church is Faith? The above statement summarizes what we are about as a church. We live in a world of disconnected people, they may be around people all the time yet they don't really feel connected to anyone, especially God. Let me break it down for you. CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH GOD We believe people are separated from God by sin and Jesus came to restore that relationship that was lost through sin. So a lot of what we do around here is to help people find their way back to God. How does this play out in the ministry of Faith? - We invest thousands of dollars every year in reaching people locally and around the world through world missions.
- You can read about some of the changed lives on MyChurch at our blog site
- We try unique ways of reaching people: TeenWeek, VBS, Teens at bowling alley, videos, contemporary music through our praise team, trunk or treat
- We will offer a chance to respond to the good news of Jesus Christ in almost every service
People really do matter to us here at Faith and we want them to connect with God. We have a whole page devoted to this at our website, follow this link to learn more about Connecting With God CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH OTHERS Sin has done a number on our relationships. Much of what we do at Faith is designed to give you a chance to connect with people, this is a natural progression because the Bible says if we love God we will love His creation other people. It is inconceivable that we would love God and hate people John tells us in his letter. - Small groups foster the ability to connect
- Social times are a chance to connect
- If you can't find a group to fit you why not start one?
CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH SERVICE We want our people to become servants and we want to give them the chance to use their gifts for the glory of God. - Group of men repair a roof damaged by storm
- Group of people peel apples for Grace Bible Camp
- Mission team working to get to Mexico to help a school for deaf children
- Church family gathering food to help ten families at Thanksgiving
- Men jump in and make garage a Sunday school class for men
- Men and women cut church grass
- King's Couples visit nursing homes
You get the picture? We want people to live out their faith in service to others. Jesus taught us that if we do this to the least we do it unto Him. So in a nutshell this is what Faith is about: Connecting people with God, others and service.
This Sunday we have a special treat for you folks. Chris Chesley our associate pastor is bringing a special message in the morning services. We recently started a Faith Promise program to retire our building debt by Christmas. Our starting goal was $65,000.00 and because of your generous giving we have been able to get the debt down to $45,000. If we can continue at this rate we could retire the entire debt by Christmas.

I would like to close out this update by thanking a friend. His name is Howard Merrell and he has served the Covington Bible Church for 34 years. He has been a true friend to me and provided many hours of free counsel for me. It is unusual to see a pastor stay this long in one place. Thanks Howard for your example and your friendship. Got to run, hope to see you in church Sunday Billy |
