Michael, thank you for posting this.  I guess I have heard all of this before, but it is a good reminder for the place I am right now.  I especially like this one...
1. Forgiveness is NOT a feeling.

No one ever “feels” like forgiving. It is a decision to obey God by releasing the person from the guilt and penalty of his/her offense.
When it comes right down to it, we have to obey God, not hope to feel better by not forgiving someone, which can't happen anyway.  It is good to know others struggle with forgiveness too, and I so appreciate you posting this.

Great Blog! Sometimes it is so hard to believe that the debt is cancelled. If you look too much at everything that goes on in this fallen world in ourselves and others...sometimes it is so hard to realize.

Over the last several days...I have been being dealt with about this very thing.

Thanks!

Cathy.

Hi Cathy!

With us, dropping the debt is a decision we have to make in forgiving others. I am a little uncertain as to whether your comment is referring the our sin debt that has been forgiven or perhaps that you have a hard time accepting forgiveness from someone else. Maybe I misread it altogether and you were having a hard time dropping the debt owed to you by someone else?

As far as our sin debt, a lot of people struggle with this. It's hard to fathom that God will throw that sin as far as the east is to the west if we believe in his Son. But that's why it's called the Gospel!

Many people are under the impression that the term Gospel means anything from scripture, or any part of the Word. That's not true. The word Gospel, as translated from the Greek literally means "Good News".  I have learned that outside of the bible, there were only like three instances where this word "gospel" was used. The reason is because it is a superlative. Not only does it mean "good news", but it means completely over the top good news. In other words, almost too good to be true news!

I am glad that this lesson helped you in this area and I pray you will recieve and believe that you are forgiven!

Michael
