It's been 5 years and counting - that’s how long hundreds of Guantánamo detainees have been subjected to torture and held in a legal no-man's land without charges or trials. And approximately 335 still languish in custody today.

Amnesty International has a project at TearItDown.org where you can help close Guantánamo Bay by tearing down a pixel.  Each pixel represents our individual power to end the lawlessness and the abuse of our values and our justice system.

Why should you care? Because indefinite deternsions are a blight on America's human rights tradition.  Because Guantánamo is an icon for America's tragic abandonment of human rights.  The detainees of Guantánamo Bay are human beings who haven't seen their homes or families for years and have faced torture, abuse, and ill-treatment in a system from which many have no hope of ever leaving.
