3:8 Finally, `be' ye all likeminded, compassionate, loving as brethren, tenderhearted, humbleminded: 3:9 not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but contrariwise blessing; for hereunto were ye called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 3:10 For, He that would love life, And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak no guile: 3:11 And let him turn away from evil, and do good; Let him seek peace, and pursue it. With all the controversies which seem to be surrounding Telavangalists and some posts geared lately at attcking some of The LORD's servants, I for one would just like to go on the record as being some one that really apreciates My local Church and out Pastors, Elders, and such.
I also really apreciate my brothers and sisters; if it weren't for them who would I confess my sins to? I can't speak for others but I for one need my Brothers and sisters in Christ to help me keep on the beam as it were.
Of course I'm a little on the indecisive side some times, it took me to reads thru "A purpose driven life" to realize I needed to get baptized, and to appreciate the importance of coming under Human authority. For me I needed to realize that I wasn't the first person to read the Bible; That pastors are Pastors because God put them there.
A reackon that's probably true of many televangalist's I don't think it's my place to criticise God's servants, even me. I'll tell you what I still struggle with authority, But accepting this has been an important part of learning to let go and let God.
At the local level though it's a little easier. 'cause I'm gettin to know these folks, and I see how the handle themselves. I'm learning slowly to trust the Spirit, I'm not rich by any means, but if I get up and spend the day Loving God for all I'm worth and loving my neighbor as myself, I figure I'm gonna be money ahead.
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Classic Billy Graham DVD; I remember watching Billy Graham when I was still using Drugs and thinking I gotta do that someday; but then he'd get to that part where he'd bring up surrender and I kinda lost interes, It's just that I wanted Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll and the Peace that passes all understanding too.
Now I've found that thanks to my Brother's and Sister's in Christ, My Home Church and a lot of you folks I'm way ahead, I've even managed to quit smoking. I trust Christ more. Oh yeah and thanks to you friendly folks here on my church to. |

Dave, my thoughts on this...it is in man's nature to tear down people in authority or leadership. Most everybody will complain about their boss. Most teens complain about their parents. Many church members complain about their pastors. I don't know why it is that way. It is so easy to complain, but so hard to do something about it.
Given that, it never surprises me when someone complains about a preacher. I went and saw Morris Ceurella (spelling) once when he was in DC. Many of the churches were speaking out against him. He advertised on the radio, so I stopped in one night. The stadium was full - probably held 20,000 people. He preached in a style I didn't like too much, but it was all straight out of the scripture. Then he asked for people who wanted prayer for healing. People went forward in droves. I saw people on crutches and in wheelchairs get up and dance unto the Lord. At the end he spoke to everyone very directly to go back to their home church and spread the good news, but also submit to the local leadership. While his style was a lot different than what I liked, I saw nothing wrong. As I was heading out, there were two stake trucks parked full of crutches and wheelchairs. I asked one of the folks what they were doing with them. He said they usually take them to the local children's hospital and donate them, but this time they were headed to the VA hospital in DC.
What I learned from this is that you have to test everything yourself. If you take other people's word for things all the time you might miss something that God is trying to show you. |

I agree. We shouldn't criticize God's servants. We should however use God's Word to discern whether or not what those who proclaim to be God's servants are saying lines up with Scripture. If it doesn't line up then they are either misinterpreting or leading their congregation away from God.
1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

| I am for free speech for everyone. (I may not agree with everything they said but but at least it inspired me to study and learn more along the way. I've apparently missed the blogs you speak of about this so I'm not sure I am addressing the right issues) I know there is bound to be corruption with some preachers, televised or not. I certainly don't approve of that. I do not like any preacher dwelling on money from mostly people of less means than themselves and then living lavishly. I know we are ALL the KING'S KIDS and we can be blessed in many ways, including finiancially but I think once we start living lavishly we risk losing sight of where our blessings came from. I also know they need a certain amount to stay on the air, since it's not free. Some times, they are ALL some people are ever exposed to for any kind of spiritual message--these days. As far as the preachers teaching in error, I find that I do not agree with every word out of anyone's mouth, but I learned a lot from the various preachers along the way, as most of us have. That's why I think it's a journey, the growing process. Had I not at least listened to the one's I did get to hear, chances are I would not be any kind of believer today. We are not always on the same page with everyone but we can try to agree to disagree, pray for discernment, and our Most High God will see that we get more and more meat to grow deeper in HIS LOVE. I do listen to some of the preachers on television and I attend various denominations for fellowship. |

4:1 Let us be judged as servants of Christ, and as those who are responsible for the secret things of God. 4:2 And it is right for such servants to be safe persons. 4:3 But it is a small thing to me that I am judged by you or by man's judging; I am not even a judge of myself. 4:4 For I am not conscious of any wrong in myself; but this does not make me clear, for it is the Lord who is my judge. 4:5 For this reason let there be no judging before the time, till the Lord comes, who will make clear the secret things of the dark, and the designs of the heart; and then will every man have his praise from God. 4:6 My brothers, it is because of you that I have taken Apollos and myself as examples of these things, so that in us you might see that it is not wise to go farther than what is in the holy Writings, so that no one of you may be lifted up against his brother. 4:7 For who made you better than your brother? or what have you that has not been given to you? but if it has been given to you, what cause have you for pride, as if it had not been given to you? 4:8 For even now you are full, even now you have wealth, you have been made kings without us: truly, I would be glad if you were kings, so that we might be kings with you. 4:9 For it seems to me that God has put us the Apostles last of all, as men whose fate is death: for we are put on view to the world, and to angels, and to men. 4:10 We are made to seem foolish for Christ, but you are wise in Christ; we are feeble, but you are strong; you have glory, but we have shame.

| Hey Dave, you know how I feel when I witness such an attack on the Lord's servant. Yes, like Voice said, it is in human nature to criticize leadership. One thing that exacerbates that is when the leadership acts out of human nature too, rather than Christ's nature, the new man. Bottom line for me is I need to pray for my pastors even more than I am now. Maybe we all should! |

Yeah, we love 'em all. The ignorant, the unsaved, etc. When you point the finger at someone, you have 3 pointing at yourself. The first commandment with promise if to honor (or place the correct value upon) our mother and father. The first place of the enemy's attack. When you accept a good parents' true value you can easily place the correct value upon God as a Father and authority figure, and learn to submit to leaders He placed there, whether pastors or presidents. |
