I find it interesting that once I announced my decision to no longer date I've had more guys ask me out in two weeks then I have in two years. I've had one guy ask me out, another guy wants to be in a "non-committed relationship" (whatever that is), and the third guy... Well, let's just say about a dozen people are trying to hook us up. Anyway!
So, when this one guy asked me to go to the movies with him I said "yes" thinking that it was just going to be two friends hanging out. When he said "alright, it's a date" I didn't really think about it at first. The closer the day came the more I thought about it. I use to like this guy, he is cute, and sweet, and so on... So I started getting nervous and excited. "Did he really mean that this is a date." "Does he really like me?" "Do I like him enough to possible have relationship with him?"
The day we were gonna go see the movie I got sick. The first thing I did (after I took a nap) was praised God. I couldn't go to the movies, so I didn't have to worry about all that stuff that was going through my head about this date. God blessed me with the time to think about what I was about to do, and helped me realized that wasn't want I wanted... I don't really like this guy. I liked the thought of someone like him liking me, and the fact that someone liked me enough to ask me on a date. (I mean that hasn't happened in like a year, so I was pretty excited) I was tempted to go on a date with this guy, but God stopped me. I believe that was Satan that tempted me, and it was God that pulled me through. He reminded me that He will always be there to help me. (even if things fell like they are blessings)
I pray for those of you who are being tempted. I pray that you realize when you're being temped, and that you don't give into that temptation. I pray that God is with you, and either puts a burden upon your heart, or smacks you upside the head with a two-by-four (which He has done to me several times). I pray that you guard your heart, mind, and body against the temptations of this world for even the smallest of temptations can corrupt the greatest of men.
26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

I am so proud of you! Isn't it amazing how quickly we can forget what we were sure God was telling us? And...in my experience it is almost always pride getting in the way. Of course it felt good to have someone asking you out..Let me just tell you, Kali, you are a beautiful young woman and plenty of young men will want to ask you out. But please remember, you are the daughter of the King. As such, you should have THE guy that God has in mind for you. This weekend our speaker at the Women's Retreat said that wait meant to 'patiently anticipate'. Doesn't that sound better than wait??!!! So I am going to join you in prayer that God will give you strength as you 'patiently anticipate' the Godly man He is going to send your way! :) Love you! Linnea |

Does God really say wait? Where?
Just curious because for a couple of years now I have been waiting on God to introduce me to my wife. Still waiting.
Then I started looking in His Word and from what I can gather, it is my responsibility to find her:
GEN 24:4 Go instead to my homeland, to my relatives, and find a wife there for my son Isaac.”
GEN 24:7 For the Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and my native land, solemnly promised to give this land to my descendants. He will send his angel ahead of you, and he will see to it that you find a wife there for my son.
GEN 24:38 Go instead to my father’s house, to my relatives, and find a wife there for my son.’
GEN 24:40 He responded, ‘The Lord, in whose presence I have lived, will send his angel with you and will make your mission successful. Yes, you must find a wife for my son from among my relatives, from my father’s family.
PROV 18:22 The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.
PROV 31:10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies.
Sorry if it seemed like I was bombarding your post. It just seemed like a good time to pose this question.
I am proud of you too!
By the way, what are you doing next Friday? (Just kidding) |
