How do I start sharing my faith 3?
Your overwhelming response to yesterday's tip was that you felt it is OK to share the gospel with strangers and that you don't have to wait to build a lifelong relationship before you let them in on the mystery of the gospel. I just want to let you know that the Samaritian women in John 4, the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8, and the woman along side the Macedonian river in Acts 16 Amen you.
So far we have shared 2 ways to begin sharing your faith.
1. Use a bible tract 2. Build Rapport by asking questions using FORM
You can read the last 2 days blog to get caught up if you need to.
Can you imagine walking into an emergency clinic to hear the doctor say to you in a frantic, rushed tone, "go ahead into that cold sterile room, take off all your clothes, put on the one-size fits all gown(sometimes it looks like people's all is hanging out), bend over the table and the I'll be in to operate in just a moment!!! Yikes!! That would be ludicrous seeing that you simply had some pain in your wrist. What does any good physician do first? He diagnoses the problem. What is wrong? Where does it hurt? What are your symptoms? He always performs a diagnosis before he gives you a prognosis, right?
I want to give you a tip today that will simply help you like a good doctor diagnose where this person you are considering to share Jesus with stands. Let's call these 2 questions the;
2 Diagnostic Questions
1. Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die today that you would go to heaven or is that something you are still working on?
2. If you were to stand before God and He was to ask you, " Why should I let you into my heaven?", what would you say to Him?
The first question is going to let you know if your listener thinks they are saved. You may have someone in front of you that is already born again. How would you know? Even if they think they are going to heaven, you might be surprised at the answers you're going to hear after question #2.
The second question allows you to diagnose the basis of why your listener thinks he/she should get to go to heaven. You are either going to get a works or faith answer and that will allow you to give a adequate prognosis after your probing diagnosis on where they stand and why they think what they think. So, I would recommend you memorize these 2 diagnostic questions and allow the Holy Spirit to use you to identify if the person in front of you needs surgery or just has some pain in the wrist.
Do you think it is OK to be prepared by memorizing some questions like the ones above or should we look to be led by the Spirit and let the Spirit tell us all these kind of things like if they are already saved or not? Please leave your comments. If these are being a blessing to you, go ahead and sign up as a reader. Tune in tomorrow to hear how to work with the Spirit as a starting point in sharing your faith.
