| GET OUT OF THE BOAT |

Imagine being one of the disciples in the middle of the ocean, it is pitch black you are struggling against a fierce storm that threatens to capsizes your boat killing everyone on it. You are filled with fear your heart is pounding in your ear. No matter what though you cling to the thing the gives you a measure of security, the boat. Then off in the distance something is approaching you hope it is another boat coming to render assistance, but as the waves continue to crash against your vessel you realize the shadowy figure is to small to be a boat. It seems impossible, but it looks like a man walking on the water. That’s crazy you think to yourself my mind must be playing tricks on me. As the figure comes closer you begin to recognize this person it is Jesus. You don’t know what to think, is this a ghost, has the stress of this situation driven me insane? Then out of the blue one of you says, ‘If it is you command me to come out unto the water’. WHAT? The boat is safe, (well safer), stepping can only have negative consequences. What would you do? Not unlike these disciples when we have faced the storms of life and we cling to the things we feel bring us security our boats if you will. Our jobs, money , possessions etc.. What is your boat? When the storms do come, Jesus comes walking on the water and extends His hand to all of us to step out to trust in Him. What will you do? We could stay in the boat, but if we do that we will never walk on water. The human race is capable of accomplishing many great things, but imagine just for a second what could be done if we took Jesus’ hand and stepped out of the boat. Yes it can be scary at times, but I believe if you are nervous on the path you are on it is the right one. Trust Jesus He will never let us sink.
From Patrick a servant of God chosen to be an apostle of Jesus Christ.
