Day 2 Category: Religion and Philosophy So...the reading for day 2 was Gen 17:1-28:20. I'm halfway through with Genesis already. I've decided that Genesis is probably the weirdest book in the Bible. I guess its because this book lays the foundation for everything else that is to come. Its amazing that we, as Christians, can read the book of Genesis and think that times today are worse than they were then. How ignorant, foolish, and self-centered we must be. The things that the men of Sodom and Gomorrah wanted to do were absolutely vile and what Lot's daughters did to him was obscene, and these were after the flood that destroyed everything because of the extreme evil done by mnakind. It makes me wonder how bad it must have been... Anyway, on a happier note, we have wonderful promises given to Isaac and Jacob, that, as the scripture says, are everlasting. I almost wish that I didn't already know what was going to happen next. Its so great to realize that the promises made to the child of promise are continuing to bless the people of promise. Reading this many chapters every day covers so much ground so fast, but it already seems like it will be easier to see how things relate to each other in the big picture, where God is orchestrating events to lead to our Salvation in Christ. |
