Day 4 Current mood: sleepy Category: Religion and Philosophy So...day 4 has come and gone and I'm very sleepy as I write this. Today I read Gen. 40:12-Ex. 1. Today's read was far easier for me since it was mostly 1 story. I've always enjoyed the story of Joseph. Today I was struck yet again by the fact that God uses worthless people to accomplish His goals. There may yet be hope for me . Joseph's story is an amazing testament to the sovereignty of God over even the evil intentions of man. I've found it interesting that from Abraham down through Joseph, the youngest sons of these chosen men were the ones that always got the greatest blessing. Only in Isreal's blessing of his sons before he dies does anyone other than the youngest son get the greatest blessing, and even then, Judah was so unworthy to be the one that would be the ancestor of Christ. Its amazing what God does. Verse 18 of chapter 49 kinda stood out to me because in the middle of pronouncing blessings and some curses upon his sons he, the way I hear it in my head, takes a deep breath and says "For Your salvation I wait, O Lord". It seems that this little family meeting was hard for him and he was ready for it to be over. He then proceeds to finish with his blessings/cursings. Any insights on this would be welcome. One more thought...the blessing that Israel gives to Ephraim and Manasseh is absolutely beautiful, especially, I think, in verses fifteen and sixteen where he says "The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd to this day, The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads;..." goodnight! |
