| A Mouse In The House |
|
| |

For those of you that do not know, my husband and I have our own business growing mushrooms, so that means we have a greenhouse. I go to work in the greenhouse every morning. This morning as I went in, there was a mouse. He was sleeping on a bag of grain (we use grain in our operation). We often have mice in the greenhouse, but none so brave as this one to sit out in plain sight and sleep on a bag of grain. He must have thought he died and went to little mouse heaven...warmth, shelter and lots of food. Still, it isn't good to have a mouse in the house...so when I was done with my work, and he was still sleeping, I picked him up by the tail and threw him back outside. I know some of you would have killed him, but I don't like to kill anything, an odd quirk that I have. And I know he probably has found his way back into the greenhouse by now.
It made me think though, how like mice we are. We are looking for a nice place to live, have food to eat and warmth when we are cold. We are just trying to live our lives and mind our own business. Sometimes someone comes along and picks us up by the tail to toss us into oblivion. Or a storm rages and we are caught without shelter.
We all have tough times. We all have tears. Our Lord sees it all, and is with us. Even when we don't feel like He is there, He is. I have heard it said that if we feel as though God has disappeared from our lives, it is because we have moved, not Him. He is there, if only we look. Draw closer to Him and He will draw closer to you.
3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease." Only when we put Him first, will we be free from the power that the trials we go through have over us. The difficulties of this life are temporal. The glory of eternity is forever! It is just so simple...draw closer to Him, and He will draw closer to you. How hard is that to do? Yet, we are so stubborn that we just don't do it as often as we should. Me first, not God. That is how most people look at it. I know I am guilty of that. But I am learning, slowly, that it is NOT all about me. It IS all about HIM. I must do His will, or I will keep knocking up against a wall. I will keep getting tossed out or caught unaware in the storms of life. He must increase, but I must decrease.

Deb,
I see you're working it out. You and the Lord and that's a real good thing. Now as for that mouse, yep he was in mousy heaven... anytime a mouse can sleep and not move while you work and let you pick him/her up by the tail and live to tell his mousy friends about it... had to be mouse heaven. Ain't God good!

So powerful, Deb! I love this scripture and will strive to live by this. Gene, I'm with you.

Great story and scripture! That whole die to self thing is a must, but it is so hard to practice daily in the rush of living.
Thanks. |

Jen, thanks...
Dana, we only grow legal mushrooms :)
Pastor Aminata, yes, the Lord and I are working things out...still in process, but getting there. And yes, God is Good!
Gene, now if I thought of that mouse as Mickey, I probably wouldn't have thrown him out!
Joey, this scripture just seems so simple, yet so difficult.
Becky, we can get so caught up in things, that we forget to put Him first.
DeboraJ, yes, praise the Lord, there has been a change!
Cheryl, cuddle with a mouse? I don't think so! lol I have to draw the line at that. Maybe I should send mine to you? :) |

That is so awesome, what a revelation. May He continues to increase in every area of your life.

How many cats do you have? 20? 30? 40?
And you still have mice?
Proof positive that cats are useless !-) |

MicaiahTy, thank you so much!
Steve, <sigh>, I am not allowed to have cats in the greenhouse. Jim says it gets too many hairs on the mushrooms...so I cannot use them for pest control :) |

|
| Funny how cats won't work in the greenhouse, but people let them in the kitchen all the time... |

| DC, I guess my husband figures that if there is cat hair in our food, it is no big deal (well, let's just say that since we have cats it is inevitable)...but he doesn't want it to land in a box of mushrooms that we sell to the public. |
