| | Day 21 Current mood: exhausted Category: Religion and Philosophy The reading for day 21 was 1Samuel 16:1-28:25. In chapter 16 God tells Samuel to annoint a new king. David, the youngest son of Jesses, is chosen. It seems that God likes to use the least likely and the youngest people to accomplish his plans. Over and over the scripture shows God giving them the greatest blessings. I wonder why that is. From Jacob down through David (so far) the pattern has held true. What do you think it means in verse 14 of chapter 16 when it says "an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him" (emphasis mine)? How many of you think of Willow when you read the story of David and Goliath ? David didn't show any sign of fear when going out to face Goliath, and he seems to be the only one so far that has understood that God would fight for him, "All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you inot our hands." What could we do with faith like David's? In chapter 17 verse 51, I believe we have an example of one of God's blessings from Deuteronomy, where God says that 1 will chase 1000. I think Jonathon would have been a great friend to have. I'm glad to have friends that I would consider just as close as he and David were. Goodnight |
