I have learned If I listen to Gods word it is better to act on my own then to be nudged any further by Him.If I act as He intends me to he lets me know.If I dont He lets me know.#1 we are to lead others to Jesus. He puts us every where we are for a reason. We can make all the plans we want,He has his own.Have a good Sunday Mike ! May you feel his love like never before.
1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation?

"don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says..."

To those who say the writings that make up the Bible weren't intended to guide us in our daily lives, I say check it out! James sure thought so! (What, disturbed about the presence of the word "listen" instead of "read"? Remember, scripture was read aloud in the early church as well, so they did indeed listen to the written words.)

That's a good point you make about listening Mike. Frequently I lay in bed at night ad listen to the bible on CD. I have a cool version with background music and sound effects, but that's not the point. There was a time when I felt like I was not receiving the Word as I could be if I were reading it. But today I look at that this in an entirely different light. Thanks for pointing that out.

After a long stressful day, listening the Word brings me great peace. God's Word is peaceful. And if you happen to be too tired to read, I highly recommend Bible on CD.
