Does this video concern you? Why should it? Does this reach our children, who are so lacking in numbers in the church? Does it reach them with the right message? This video is over a year old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nseKxA89qs Warning, this is a video that promotes rap, rap style, but was used by Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Worship Conference 2006. I'm a pretty 'with it' person, I allow my kids to play video games, we watch secular movies (although tv is OUT nowadays because its drivel) I even let my children make their own choices with music (I have been known to break several cd's when they were younger though). After all, I'm the parent I know what is BEST!!! But how much do we allow in this age of tolerance???? I am asking you, watching this video, is GOD being glorified? or is man? Is God and the bible being held in high esteem, or is it being put into the gutter alongside sin? I'm pretty disgusted personally. But that's just me I guess. WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING??? DO NOT BRING GOD down TO THIS LEVEL, I believe that it's horrible, because I believe God should be lifted up, revered, glorified and worshipped. Do we bring God down to this level, or do need to bring people up to God's glory. I don't mind some music with a beat, after all my son plays the drums, I do enjoy Christian upbeat rockn' roll type music, but is there a line where it demeans Jesus and the Bible? Couldn't they have used a different group, different type video, different song with different words and still have been exciting, upbeat and given God HIS just due, His respect? Did the audience of this conference need rap to be reached? A naked man in a bathtub? Was this shock value? Is this the message Jesus teaches us? To rap with the rappers? Or are we taught to be different from the world? Seems like there is a bible verse regarding that. I'll have to look it up. It features a heavy sensual rap beat with the following lyrics: “Ohhhhhh, I’m filled with the Spirit; come gather round so all ya’ll can hear it. Ohhhhh, I feel so amazing; can’t stop the music; got my hands raising. Ohhhh, I feel this divinity; stronger than Samson; it is the Trinity. Calm me down I need the tranquility; Satan try to stop me; you got to be kiddin’ me. ... Uuhhhhh, now break it down ya’ll; uuhhhhh, now break it down ya’ll; uuhhhh, uuhhhhh, now break it down, now break it down, Old Testament style. Do the burning bush, do the burning bush, now everybody in the crowd do the burning bush. ... The walls of Jericho, the walls of Jericho, make the booty drop like the walls of Jericho [the rapper turns around and shakes his backside to the camera]...” ___________________________ We get several shots of the man in the bathtub, is hairy armpits, his shakin his booty at the camera and a few other dance moves that....aren't even very good.... http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/sick-rap-worship-video.html I would agree with the above person's perception. Personally, I didn't get a feeling of being lifted up, praising God or that God is our Holy Lord, I basically got a sick feeling in my stomach, and nauseated. |
