Have you ever been confronted with a question, that you can't find an answer too in the bible? The question of abortion-we know, that question is not directly in the bible. Does it mean you can't find the answer to it? The answer according our Lord Jesus Christ? Does God not reveal His nature, His thoughts in the bible enough for us to KNOW HIM and what His answer would be to the question? Is God that mysterious? So when we come across difficult questions across the ages of mankind, (say porn, I don't believe that question is addressed in the Bible either), because those exact words regarding abortion and porn, does that mean God does not reveal himself in the scriptures through what He says, how He treats and hates sin, how He wants us to live our lives, how He sets examples in the Bible, how He will treat an unrepent sinful heart and life with wrath...does HE not make that clear enough for us to answer the question for ourselves with His council in His word??? You would be then telling me....that God didn't think of this ahead of time. He says we are beloved... His children, but yet then....He did not give us enough information to answer these questions in His Word to us? He did not make provisions for those HE so claims to love by giving us that which we would need to answer these questions according to His will, His law, who God is??? Does God HIDE from us in that way? I don't think so. Personally, I would think He would be greatly disappointed in what I thought of Him in that case, because I had such doubt in the provision He has made for me, to get to know Him thought His word the Bible. If an innocent child dies, and you want to comfort the mother but you cannot find scripture that says, "and Jesus says, fear not, for your child resides in heaven as we speak," does that mean that it isn't so because you have not found the direct or indirect quote in the bible? Has God made himself so hard to 'find' and to 'understand' to man, that we cannot share with that mother, that in-fact, even though those words cannot be found in Gods word directly, God has revealed his nature to man in the word and I can tell you that the God of the Bible reveals, that your child is in fact, with Jesus now, as we speak...? Your child is not burning in Hell. It has to be one or the other right? There is not a third option. Does the God of the bible reveal himself to be God who would send an innocent baby to Hell for eternity because we cannot find the exact quote that would relieve our minds, or does the God of the bible reveal himself to be God who is merciful to the innocence of children, and therefore an innocent child would be spared eternal damnation for HIS glory. Does sending an innocent child to hell, give God glory? If we believe that, have we made up a God that doesn't exist, how exact must the words be in the Bible to reveal God's nature and glory? How important are the words and in what order? If that is so, how can we evangelicals worship the Trinity? That word doesn't exist in the bible, matter-of-fact, the word 'Bible' doesn't exist in the Bible. Has not God's word always existed, even before man existed? From the beginning? 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. I believe in God's character as it has been revealed to me through His word the Bible, and that HE wishes for me to seek HIM in it, and the truth of His character by the Bible, and only the bible, not by self-help books, religious or otherwise, because as soon as I take myself out of that relationship, and let someone else interpret for me what the bible says and 'who' God is in their opinion, I have allowed a third party to describe to me God and His will for myself and mankind, and that people is dangerous. We allow all kinds of teachings and possible heresies into our lives when we allow that to be our relationship with God and NOT the Bible. Do not let any religious teacher dictate to you who God is, ONLY the Bible should do that. I am not saying religious self-helps etc are not good, I read them myself, I have several now with bookmarks around my house, they can be an endless source of opinion-regardless of whether I may agree with it or not. But they are JUST THAT, another person's opinion about God, God does not use other people and authors to speak to us, He does not need religious authors to define HIM and His Will. As soon as I let that author have dominion in my life over or equal to the bible, and I let IT find the answers for me, I have allowed bias to come between God and myself, the bias and agenda of the author. That is why the Word of God has been handed down to us, so we do not have to depend on the CHURCH, or an AUTHOR to decipher and confuse us, we can know GOD intimately through the Bible and prayer, we do not need authors confusing us in this relationship. This is allowing a space for the devil to influence our relationship with God if we do this. So no, I cannot direct a grieving mother to the words in the Bible that says, your child resides in heaven as we speak, but I can direct a grieving mother to the Bible and show her the Lords words and character and how he deals with innocent children. God delights in showing us mercy, give GOD the glory for it. I cannot direct you to a Bible verse that abhors abortion, the killing of innocent unborn children, but I can direct you to the Bible and show you what the Lord tells us about murder and sin, how HE loves, how He has created the universe and His laws for HIS glory. Now YOU need to do your homework and READ the Bible, and not let authors do it for you. I don't want to know about that great Christian author you just read (I have a 100 of my own books to read), God wants you to spend time with HIM in the book HE provided for YOU, seek HIS face, and truth in HIS word, and God will reveal it to you. Don't look for the answers in those self-help books, look for it in the Bible, you may not find your question in direct quote, but you'll find GOD and you'll find HIS nature, HIS law, HIS justice, how HE reveals HIMSELF to us so that we may know HIM, so we do not run around asking ourselves questions, but instead we calmly rest in HIS truth, steadfast in HIS word. I believe God has revealed Himself through Jesus Christ, to know Jesus is to know God, therefore in conclusion, I do believe God has mercy on innocent children who die and does not send them to Hell, I do not believe sending innocent children to Hell reveals God as glorious. I have all the confidence in Jesus. |
