My faith, humbly recognized as a gift of grace from God. My family, especially my two children, both of whom are on loan from God. My friends, especially the ones who have stood by me for so long and who make me feel good even when I do not deserve it. The aroma of a pot of chili cooking in the kitchen. A high school football game on Friday night with everyone sitting together and cheering on the team. Sunday church, and that feeling of exhaltation you get just from hearing the word of God proclaimed openly and freely. The U.S.A., and all of the men and women who have worked to make it a success since 1776. My Methodist grandmother, who taught me that character is how you act when no one is looking. The Baptists in my family, who taught me that joy is a part of Christianity. The Catholics in my family, who taught me the wonders of Christian meditation. A cold Coca-Cola on a hot August afternoon in Georgia. Dogs, who love you unreservedly and often undeservedly. A warm jacket on a cold Autumn morning in the Appalachian mountains. A four bedroom cabin on Lake Chatuge in North Carolina, thanks to a wonderful father-in-law. The county fair in Hiawassee, Georgia. Tubing on the Chattahoochee River with my wife and kids. The still undeveloped and pristine beaches on the Georgia coast. My daughter's laugh, which is so infectious. And YOU! I am thankful for YOU for reading this, for now we are forever joined.
God bless you!
