| Love Slave |

| We've all heard of the phrase "beat someone into submission." But is that true submission? Perhaps that is the view of our perverted world which also looks at the term "love slave" in a perverted way. In Romans 1:1 Paul calls himself a "love slave" of Christ. Dulos is the transliterated Greek word used here which means a slave by choice, that is someone that has surrendered their rights over to another. Good players submit to a good coach ...and if enough good players submit to the good coach...the TEAM wins. Why should we submit to God? He's better than the good coach. God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. We can trust that if we submit to God He will not violate us, He will not treat us like a door-mat, He will not abuse us. He loved us when we were unlovable! You have to trust a God like that. He is not "in it" for who we are! It's true love. Yes, I can surrender and be a slave out of love for this God who loves me. If you are for real, then submit by obeying God's Word. Don't say "I want to forgive, but..."; "I want to be kind, but..."; "I want to love my neighbor, but..." Die to yourself. Forgive, be kind, love and live for God. Being a "love slave" to Christ didn't cost Paul his identity. Consider this, we're talking about him 2000 years later. |
