1. Our sermon series, "The Eternal Remnant," focuses on the life of Israel just after their return from Babylon and just prior to the close of their canon of Scripture. During this period of history, the once mighty Israel was subject to the decrees of foreign rulers, maligned by her neighbors, and doubted by those within her own ranks -- there are similarities to our situation as the church in the world today. However, God raised up specific 'ministers' in both the civil and religious spheres to encourage a returning remnant to properly worship and obey God's law -- again, appropriate direction for the church today.
Join us this Sunday for our sixth lesson from the book of Zechariah, "I Became the Shepherd." We again visit difficult terrain for interpretation because of the poetic prophetic prose. This section of scripture is an indictment against those who serve as the shepherds of God's flock. It appears that those, "who should know better," are under the greatest condemnation. Zechariah will step in to play the part of a shepherd; but how will he be treated? Again, through this role play, we see a picture of the future Messiah! In order to prepare for this Sunday's message, please read Zechariah, chapter 11 and 12.

5.A. Thanks to everyone who participated in Serve Day! We especially thank Keri for her mediating and organizing our team effort! As a result of our "food drive," our team raised over 700 lbs. of groceries for a local food bank! Thank you for contributing to the community!
5.B. Thanks to everyone who attended our Wild Water Weekdays! We had several families who are new to our church participate in our July VBS experience. Thank you to Stephanie for all her programming and instruction!
5.C. Worthy of contemplation: Overweight people should seek protection from the Supreme Court decision of Roe V. Wade -- tell the government, "It's MY body! You have no right to tell me what I should do with what's in it!"
5.D. "Thank you," to all of you who have listened to, or have passed along information about our online "sermon site!" Many of these sermons are being downloaded by hundreds of people. How encouraging it is to get "the word out" to the world from our own communion. Thank you for your support of this ministry!
