I noticed in the last e-mail update from Debbie that there was a piece about going to Iowa to help with the flood relief. I was able to go there for a few days this summer with my dad and met up with Pastor Lee Ann as well. If you would like to know more about the group, Nechama, that we worked with or just what to expect if you are thinking of going please feel free to let me know.

Please join us for Namibia Sunday on August 3rd. During the Sunday School hour we will learn more about our companion synod, play games, and try some new foods. All ages welcome!

I wanted to let everyone know that another "Bethel Lutheran Church" in nearby Winchester, Virginia, has a Tanzanian blog as well! http://www.betheltz2008.blogspot.com/ Their medical and educational team just returned from time spent at Selian Hospital and the MaaSae Girls Lutheran Secondary School!

As we become more savvy with this site, we will be adding more features. For example, you may notice that on the left hand side, we have a "church friend," Manassas Church of the Brethren, where my friend Nancy Fitzgerald is a pastor. If you too have a friend at another congregation with a MyChurch page, you can ask if they would like to be a church friend so they can read about what is going on with Bethel's ministries!

Bethel is ripe with possibilities for mission at home and abroad. It is our hope that MyChurch will be a way to communicate with everyone while we are doing global work in Kenya.
