About
Our Church was built by the British.  It is a national monument of our nation.  It is a very beautiful church, situated in front of the Rashtrapathi Bhavan (President' s house) which was used by the then British Viceroy.

Cathedral Church of the Redemption

Our Church is located on Church Road, north of Jaipur Column, the Cathedral Church of the Redemption, stands to the west of Parliament House. Henry Medd, who won many architectural competitions, designed this simple yet attractive cathedral built between 1927 and 1935. He belonged to the Lutyens’ school of architecture, which is reflected in the design of the church. Though the exterior of the church is ordinary, with red sandstone roofing, the interior is very striking. The interior of this Anglican Church has small recessed openings that filter the sunlight. It also has a fine organ as well as a striking stained glass window. The cathedral now belongs to the Church of North India.

Lord Irwin donated the silver cross in the church. He also donated a picture, which can be seen in the eastern end of the church. Lord Irwin is believed to have donated the picture to express his gratitude for God’s grace, when he narrowly escaped an attempt to blow up his train in 1929.
The cathedral hosts religious concerts on festivals such as Christmas and Easter every year. A choir called the Capital City Minstrels performs concerts of choral music and carol singing on these religious occasions in the Cathedral Church of the Redemption.

Entry to the church is free and anyone can enter the complex for prayers. Rev.Dr.Christopher Raj is the Presbyter of this Church for Tamil Congregation.   The worship services are held in English, Tamil and Hindi.

Telephone Number: 91 11 23094229

Special Event / Annual Event:
Prayers are held in morning and evening every day. The church is attractively decorated during Christian festivals. Various cultural and social programmes are organized round the year.

Dear God,
We come into the Prayer Room of Cathedral Church with a sense of awe.
You have provided a business to take to India and a job temporarily for here...better than the one I have now. Through this job I'll be paid to contact all the churches of Pinellas County...something I wanted to do anyhow to make future contacts for Kenosis and Job's Prophetic ministry.
Yet other things are up in the air and may come crashing down tomorrow.
I pray that Your Will be done regarding all our plans....including our longing for 100 MILLION souls to be saved in India over this year (April 2008-2009). Make it happen Oh Lord for your Kingdom's sake and for Your glory.
We know how to reach them, but the details are up to You.
In the Name of Jesus,
Amen

If there is such a thing as a prayer closet at Cathedral Church....I hope this comments section is it.
Our Lord Almighty God, El Shaddai,
I come into this little room with Shelley and Kumar.  We seek to be close to all the saints of this church who love India and miss India and their families who are there.
With tears we cling to You instead.
We run to the Rock that is higher than we are...a place of refuge. We climb perilously up to the top and run to find fellowship in Your arms of love.
No one can fill the ache in our hearts but You.
You have given us all hopes and dreams and visions of what we could do...but You must accomplish them through us. We cannot in our own strength.
We have no wisdom or clues of what to do...so go on ahead, dear Jesus. Clear the way and we will follow.
Jesus, You have given us burdens to go and tell the story of Your sacrifice to others.
In Luke 16:9 today You said, "I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will (all) be welcomed into eternal dwellings (heaven)."

We know you are talking of friendship evangelism here, Jesus.
We want to make friends and tell them about Jesus.
And that you are speaking of how You have given ALL our possessions, no matter how many or few, to use as tools in sharing the gospel...whether it is inviting strangers at church to dinner, or giving someone in need assistance or using your time and gas to take them somewhere, or buying tracts and Bibles, giving to a missionary or helping to build a Bible College.

Give us the tools, O Lord to do your great work that you have given us a vision for.
In Your name we ask,
For the Praise of You and You alone,
Amen
