First Baptist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ through joyful worship, caring fellowship, spiritual nurture, faithful service, and compassionate outreach in the Richmond area and throughout the world. Located at Monument and Boulevard in Richmond's historic Fan District and just across Boulevard from the city's Museum District, FBC's people come from diverse cultural, ethnic, economic and religious backgrounds. Some have a lifetime of faith experiences. Others have become followers of Christ later in life. We celebrate and draw strength from our diversity, which finds its unity in the Lord Jesus Christ. We embrace an international perspective with more than ten different languages spoken among our members. Men and women serve as deacons and as ordained staff in leading services and preaching sermons. Our goal is to be a church with abundant opportunities for learning and leadership relevant to our changing society.
This is not an official FBC site, but is a collaboration of members of the FBC family undertaken with the knowledge of our church ministers. Any views expressed here should be regarded only as the opinion of the individual who makes them. We welcome a lively discussion of topics relevant to our common life and heartily endorse the Apostle Paul's injunction to "encourage one another and build each other up."
