1) ASK RICK MUCHOW: OUR PRAISE TEAM IS FULLY STOCKED?
http://www.encouragingmusic.com/ask_rick_muchow_view.asp?expand=175
Our Praise Team is fully stocked at this time. What do I do about
other musicians and singers who might be interested? While I want to reach
out to new talent that may be in our church, at the same time we have a
worshipping, wonderful, dedicated team with all the players and
singers we need right now. Our service is growing by leaps and bounds... we
are SO blessed. I think I am afraid of looking closed minded and closed
hearted toward others who might be interested in joining. And if you
tell me to start a Praise Choir I'm going to run away-- that really
frightens me! But then again, it may be time to "build a bench"--or should I
leave well enough alone?
- From Kelly Gabriele serving in Little River, SC

4) ASK RICK MUCHOW: HEALTH ISSUE AFFECTING THE TEAM?
http://www.encouragingmusic.com/ask_rick_muchow_view.asp?expand=176
I've served as volunteer minister of music for many years at our
church under the same Pastor. One of the main musicians for Sunday morning
worship is the Pastor's wife. In recent years, her health has declined.
We do not practice for service. I think we should but don't know quite
how to address it with the Pastor. He is one of her greatest fans.
How would you handle this issue?

8) TIP: PANDORA.COM
http://www.pandora.com
You can use this secular music site to help explain the type of sound
you are seeking from your band or how to play certain genres of music.
For every song that is played, Pandora provides a description of that
style. Just click the song title. You can then use that same description
to explain a particular sound to your band or to find new songs and
music styles. For example, for the Foo Fighters song Learn To Fly
from the album There Is Nothing Left To Lose, Pandora says that the
Features Of This Song include hard rock roots, electric guitar wall-o-sound,
repetitive melodic phrasing, extensive vamping, a vocal-centric
aesthetic, major key tonality, and electric guitar riffs.
