Born n' bred in Radar O'Reilly's stomping grounds, I had a rough family life and put a lot of pressure on my friends to be my family. I couldn't quite keep it all in balance and really lost it at one point. I started to get into a lot of trouble during my teenage years. I've lived on the streets, been in jail, been through mental hospitals, stayed in some dark, dingy corners of the universe, and altogether fell off the face of the planet to everyone who ever loved me. I had nothing left: mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, socially, etc, and started to look past this life - but not to want to die. I've always wanted to live! I somehow felt that the pain wouldn't end with my heartbeat. I started to believe in the spirit world and sought it through the teachings of the natives of America . Music has been a guide for me into a greater overall awareness, and I found some solace in eastern disciplines and meditations (e.g., Zen, Taoism, Hinduism, etc.). When I picked up the Bible, however, I was truly a goner. I found the One, or rather was found, and have been being picked up out of the dust ever since. I got a BA in biblical studies from York College (in Nebraska), joined the air force with hopes of chaplaincy because of what a mission field it seemed to be at the time, got out of active duty plumbing and into the AF Reserves, then started graduate school/seminary in Memphis , Tennessee. I have gained a very strong passion for the poor and downtrodden, especially children. I am drawn to liturgical worship because in my heart I embrace mysticism along with social justice. I will receive a medical discharge from the military due to an anxiety disorder. I really want a life of continually receiving and giving God's compassionate mercy. My relationship with my family is renewed stronger, sweeter, and more affectionate than ever. I'm still broken in a lot of ways I'll never get back, but I'm being held together and in balance by the One who is greater and more central than us all; I'm growing, and in all my problems He is my fortress and safe place.
