Some might wonder who the tall man is that sits with me in church. It's my ex-husband--my children's Dad (can you tell--they look just like him!). It's a little odd sitting in church each week with him because we look like a family, but we're a broken family. Not that I'm proud of that. Ron and I have been divorced seven years now. My boys know what it takes to have eternal life. One night during bedtime prayer, they were very upset because they knew they wouldn't be seeing Daddy in heaven. So we prayed for their Dad. And when the Alpha course started last Fall, and Ron's life was such a mess (depression, anxiety, etc...)--I said to Ron, "You need Jesus. Why don't you come to church with us this week?" He came and I took him up to the worship team and Pastor Dan and others prayed for him. The Ron attended Alpha (and really liked Cathy and Joe Diemer and Pastor Mark). He's a Christian now and sits with us in church most weeks. It was hard for me at first (to share "my" church with him). At first I wanted him to find Jesus, but then go find his own church. I eventually got over myself (it took some prayer). I'm so glad that my children are happy to know they will see Daddy in heaven now. Moral of this story--invite someone to church.
