| Grew up in Oregon, college in Cali (Los Angeles) now calling the Washington area home for the second time. My wife and I were married at First Baptist and it has been our faith 'home', even when we've been abroad. I am currently a PhD student in the Department of War Studies, Kings College London, finishing my thesis here in the United States. After three and a half years in England, first in London, and later in Oxford, my wife Kerry and I have returned to Washington DC. We enjoyed travelling around the United Kingdom and Europe, and I will miss the chance to play 'American' football - they have 'full kit' leagues over there, to my surprise and delight, and I played for teams in London and Oxford - but we are very happy to be back. My thesis is tenatively titled 'From Faith to Foreign Policy'. Thanks for visiting my profile and God Bless! If you are from FBC, I hope to see you at the Young Adults weekly gathering on Wednesdays, starting at 7:30 PM (beginning week after Easter). | | Interests A good read, a pickup ballgame, sampling food and drink of all kinds from all cultures, travelling and visiting new places and peoples. | | Movies I'm just a fan of moviemaking in general, partly as a result of going to school in LA at a college that occasionally serves as a backdrop for film and television (Alicia Silverstone's high school in 'Clueless' ... the college in 'Real Genius' starring a young Val Kilmer ... 'California College' for Beverly Hills 90210's college years, etc.). Its hard to rank an all-time favorite, but for script, pacing and character acting its hard to beat the classic 'Casablanca'. | | Music Thievery Corporation | | Books The works of the 'Inklings' - C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien,
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, the works of Joe Sacco - 'Palestine' and 'Safe Area Gorazde', all of the Calvin and Hobbes collections by Bill Watterson and history books, particularly on conflict ('War is rattling good history but peace makes poor reading') | | Television The Simpsons and Ken Burns 'The Civil War' |
