Kelly and I have decided that some of the comments we hear from the ankle biters are too rich not to share.... it's a new blog theme, and this is the Number One entry:
"My daddy has a really bad headache and a tummy ache today, 'cause he drank too much pop last night!"
(Sometimes, it's hard to keep a straight face!)
We've got tons of these....I'll just shoot them at you as I remember them!
PS - I wonder what kind of "Pop" that was?!
OH yea, another one:
On Sunday we get to go to church and sit in the Cemetery! (aka "Sanctuary") Hmmmmmm......sorry Pasor Bill!

OK so our birdie mama now has a nest full of eggs...this is soooo exciting... I'll keep you posted... (Can somebody tell me how to explain to a two-year-old that my cat just made an omelet???) I like to be prepared, and there are limits to my communication skills with toddlers!

I spent the morning outside with 7 or 8 (no I didn't lose any...I just can't remember ) littles (ages 2-4) the other day...we spent about 20 minutes watching a mourning dove go in and out of a pine tree with sticks and string for a nest.
That's a lot of time for the ankle-biters to keep interest!
Every time she flew in there was a chorus of: "Hey, mamma, where are you?" and when she flew back out, there was shreiking laughter as she buzzed our heads. EVERY time!!!!
The whole time this was going on, all of the busy stuff in my life went onto the "Hold" pile for just that 20 minutes. All my worries, plans, "have-to's", "don't want to's", schedules, busy-ness, everything was still there waiting for me later, but for that 20 or so minutes I had the rare privilege of watching a mamma bird through the eyes of those who have none of those things in the way!
So do yourself a favor...put all of your junk into a pile, mark it "Hold" and just go find a kid and watch and listen carefully. I promise you will hear the voice of God and see Him Smile!

Just to let you know, the Kid in the conversation was my granddaughter Rileigh, and it happened 3 days after I was told I needed a biopsy, and 4 days before the actual procedure. First, it's not cancer, but a pre-cancerous condition that at this time only requires close monitoring. But...I was really prayin at the time...how could I explain all that to Rileigh especially (she's a very savvy kid)! God started that conversation, I'm convinced of it, and He opened her mouth and put both hands in the middle of my back and said, "Now...talk to her!" A groundwork was laid then so that no matter what the future holds, that little girl will be ok, and I will too, there is such great peace myself in knowing that!
Just thought I'd share that with you...
God is good.....all the time!
