About Me

I am a baby boomer living in Atlanta, Georgia.  I am originally from South Carolina.  My life revolves around my family and my calling to be a Salvation Army Officer.

I grew up in the Salvation Army.  I was saved at an early age and called to be a Salvation Army Officer as a teenager.  I am not perfect but I want to live a holy life with God's help.  I asked God for that second blessing of holiness.  He answered that prayer and continues to help me grow in our relationship.

I am married to the best woman in the world for 30 years this year.  I have three sons who are a joy for my wife and I.  Two are grown and married to smart, beautiful, Christian women, an answer to their parent's prayers.  The third is in college working on a music degree.  The other brothers are also in the music field, one in public school education and one for the Salvation Army.  All three are fine, talented, Christian young men.

I have been a Salvation Army Officer with my wife for 30 years this year.    My wife and I have been ministers/pastors at Salvation Army corps in the south as well as headquarters officers.  I am now the Assistant Principal for Training and Business Administrator for the Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College.  I enjoy teaching and preaching.  I am a detail person.  I love to plan and organize things.  I am a quiet leader.  I wish I was more of a people person.  I need to work on that.  Sometimes, I feel very insecure and inadequate for my roles.  However, I am learning that it is not about me or how I stack up compared to others.  It is about what God is doing and how I can fit into his plan.  If I focus on that, it does not really matter what I am doing or where I go.  I can be happy doing whatever God wants.

Hey dad... are you getting excited about your mission trip?  Where are you guys going again?  I'm sure you'll have fun... When you get back, you should write a blog about your trip.  Eli actually wrote a blog on "12 tips to be a good blogger."

I've only written two blogs so far, but my goal is to try to write one per week, and also post these on our Georgia Music & Arts site.  Mine will probably most of the time focus around music, but who knows what God will lay on my heart.  For me, it's just a lot easier to write than to speak.  I don't have to deal with nerves and I can take time to consider the best way to say and arrange my thoughts.

Anyway, just an idea for you to make your mycorps site a ministry tool.

See you soon.  I love you.
