My life verse: Philippians 1:27 - "Whatever happens conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ." Try living up to that one! I grew up in church but left when I was young. The church seemed out of touch to me and I saw no point in going. Even when I went to church I still felt that something was missing. It wasn't until I was older that I finally realized what I was missing was a personal relationship with Jesus. I had always viewed Jesus as some far away mysterious being. I never realized that Jesus is not far away, He is right here and He is not mysterious, He simply wants to spend time with me so I can get to know Him and introduce Him to others. What I had become disinterested in was religion. What I needed was a relationship. When I finally realized that and started spending more time just being with Jesus that is when my faith grew. That was when God called me to be an officer of The Salvation Army. At the time I was a computer consultant making a very nice income. Today, as the Corps officer of The Salvation Army of Montgomery County Maryland I am more completely satisfied than I have ever been. I thank God everyday for my wife, Christine, for my children, Michael and Savanna who still live at home as well as Madison and Brady who live away from home. I thank God for my salvation and for Him calling me to be an officer. And I thank God for whoever is reading this right now. |
