Have you ever wondered why two families prays for their infants to be healed from a diseases; one child is healed while the other child dies? Does God answer all prayers? Does God already have a plan to do what He wants to do regardless of what we ask? If so, why pray? God revealed to me recently that there is a purpose for prayer that I had neglected. The main reason why we pray is just to be in God's presence. Nothing more. We pray just so we can be with God. I have a dog who follows me around and when I sit down she looks up at me with her eyes wide, her ears pinned back and her tail wagging asking, "Please pick me up so I can sit in your lap." All she wants is to sit in my lap. It doesn't matter what I am doing, she is content just to sit in my lap. When was the last time you approached God and asked just to sit in His lap? I don't know about you but many of my prayers are asking God to do something for me. Then God reminded me that if I seek Him first he will give me everthing I need and want. But I need to seek Him first. Over the past week I have been focusing my prayer time on just being with God. Just enjoying being in His presence. It has been a wonderful experience just sitting in God's lap. And since I have started doing this I have not wanted for anything. God still provides me with every thing I need without me even asking.
