I grew up in a small town in northern New Jersey, where my parents had immigrated from England. I went to the Naval Academy not just for the education, but to open up opportunities that were not available to me in my neighborhood. I met my wife Fiona in 1997 in Kuwait. She was a teacher at the Gulf English School, I was the maintenance advisor to the Kuwaiti Air Force for their F-18 program. We married in 1998, and our son Luke was born in 2000. Since our marriage, we've lived in Kuwait City, Hampton VA, Silverdale WA, and now Great Mills MD. I chose aerospace maintenance officer as a career field. I've served on 4 aircraft carriers, with most of my career spent in organizations that do component level repair. Now that I'm too senior to go to sea, I've become more involved in defense acquisition, in particular the acquisition of simulators. I have a Bachelor's majoring in Operations Analysis, a Master's in Logistics, and a Master's in National Resource Strategy. In my current job, I'm "serving a two year sentence" on the Chief of Naval Operations Staff. I'm the guy everyone hates- the money guy for Navy & Marine Corps aviation operations and maintenance. I plan and program about $8 billion annually for Navy & Marine Corps Flying Hours, Depot Maintenance, enabler accounts, and engineers & logisticians who support naval aviation. It's an insanely demanding job. I consider it a work-release program- I have an apartment in Crystal City, and every weekend I get to see my family. I came to know the Lord in 1984. My parents were not believers, and it took some significant divine intervention for me to come to know the truth. I could be a finalist on "World Heavyweight Championship Testimony Giving."
