Senior prom!! "Yes, you can go to the party afterward" we said. Of course we talked with the parents to make sure there was going to be adequate supervision. We went over the "rules" with her. She's a "good" kid (compared to others....) One of the rules...you can stay as long as your two girlfriends stay. Simple enough. Right? Not for a teenager who is having a good time and is afraid to call home when her friends leave thinking we'll make her come home too!! Wow, were we ANGRY when we found out her friends left @ 2:00 and it's now 7:30!!!!!!!! After the steam quit coming out of my ears and I thought about it, this is not the hill I want to die on! My husband & I realized we were kinda of dumbfounded...we've never really had any trouble with this child and it was so out of character it through us for a loop. That's probably why we over-reacted at first. We've all talked, apologies given and lessons learned (by both parties!) And I am now a proud owner of a cute little cell phone with unlimited texting... at least for the next 7 days!! LOL

We are pulling an "all-nighter", again. Prom was tonight and our place was once again the place to hang out afterwards! About 30 teens~bon fire~video games~food! Most are scattered across the living room floor, asleep :) Several STILL awake playing games! It's 5 a.m. now...Someone said to me, "I can't believe you're still awake!!" I'm good, as long as I have something to keep me busy!! What a group of great kids. Okay, I better stop. I'm tired and might get emotional :D)

WOW! 3 weeks till h.s. graduation! My daughter is sooo excited! I'm excited for her! Todd and I are busy making lists of things we want to do around the house...but when it all comes down to it, people could show up today for the party and I wouldn't care if we mulched, pulled weeds, or even washed the floors!! The day is all about Ciera and celebrating her accomplishments and her next steps into the "real world" as she puts it. LOL. My emotions....under controld....(for the time being!!) I'm getting plenty of sleep, exercise and taking my vitamins!!!! We'll see how well I do tonight...band awards.... bye for now!

| I'm going on a bit of an adventure for 6 days...I'm a part time "nanny" of a 5 month old & I've been invited to go with him and his family on a ski vacation!(I won't be skiing, just watching the baby). This means I'll be leaving my two teenage kids to "fend for themselves" while I'm gone.(their dad will be home). By fending for themselves, I mean getting themselves up for school, making sure their lunches are packed and feeding themselves dinner!! ( Of course, grandma will make sure they eat something good at least one night!) I must admit, I have spoiled my children. But I don't always think of it as spoiling. It's been my JOB as a full-time, SAH(stay-at-home)mom to take care of my family and I enjoy doing it! My daughter who is 18 and graduating this yr. has expressed to us how she wants to be "on her own". Well, she's going to get a little taste of that this week & I have to grin when she keeps asking me "what about this....what about that....how do I do this"....etc...I think they'll both be surprised at how much they can do on their own. Wow, it would be neat if they realize just how much mom does for them...hmmm..we'll see :)

Ciera, her dad and I will be visiting a college campus next week. I am sooo thankful it's one that is close to home. So close that she will be able to live at home while going to school :) I'm doing pretty good about not being such a 'cry baby'! ( Except the other day while driving in the car, I heard a new Steven Curtis Chapman song, not sure of the titile, but something about dancing w/Cinderella! It's another one of those father/daughter songs~like "Butterfly Kisses".)
