Bishop Tanya Alkhaliq, a well respected and educated member of the clergy openly reveals that she is an intersex person. Bishop Alkahliq stated. “My primary reason for coming out as intersex is to foster understanding and acceptance within the Black religious community. Intersex people are simply people who are some combination of both male and female.”

She was challenged and inspired by her own life experiences in such a way that she began to have an epiphany about life...there is no reason to be fearful. In 2007, she began writing her first book written mainly for young-adults, entitled Fear: It's Not an Option. She struggled with questions about herself, her career choices, and of course relationships. As she continued, she began to write down her epiphany that was working for her to help transform her from a fear based response to a Love based existence. Tanya has dedicated over four years in research and speaking about overcoming fear to transform life.

"I once viewed being intersex as a curse and something to be both feared and hidden. God has helped me see that my uniqueness is a gift. From penning the life lesson, I am learning that I can't live in fear of myself and be able to help other people as well! I had to come to terms with who I am.”

Bishop Alkahliq moved through the enforced silence on this topic and decided to use her story as a spring board to promote tolerance and inclusive policies. It is her goal to educate the mainstream religious community and open the doors of faith to the intersex community and to offer hope to other marginalized and outcast communities.

Her hard work, will to succeed, and commitment to God and family helped her to achieve much success in both her personal and professional life. Bishop Alkhaliq is consecrated within Apostolic Christianity, however, her message is universal to all who are trying to grow and learn.

"My commitment is to help society and religious people become more comfortable with diversity. I sincerely seek to be a voice of reason and concern on the subject of intersex people."

Tanya supports both men and women in discovering the answers to questions such as: "Who Am I, Where do I go from this point, What do I want from life, What is my outlook about life, What can I do to change my life now?" Tanya is a Life Coach with an emphasis in counseling and specializes in self-identity development, relationship issues, spiritual reformations, career choices, and issues pertaining to fear. Her expertise centers on young-adult entrepreneurial and empowerment endeavors.

Tanya formed Manifest Presence Ministries, to empower the mind, body, spirit, and soul aspects of every person's life. It addresses gang violence, teen pregnancy, youth incarceration, STD transmission, youth/young-adult empowerment and entrepreneurship, and educational progress.

As a professional speaker: Tanya leads seminars and workshops to audiences around the country. She has also appeared on various local radio shows, speaking about life, Church, relationship, sexual, and gender issues.

In addition, Tanya is also a Pastor, Itinerant Preacher/Evangelist, Counselor, Teacher, Musician, and Vocalist.

Some of Tanya's favorite past times are travel, fine dining, opera, symphony, theatre, movies, cooking, hanging with friends, shopping, reading, and she loves to be outside (provided it's not too hot or too cold).

She currently makes her home in Houston, TX.

A prophetic utterance can only be received if the Word is given by someone who is appointed into position and authority.

God has allowed her to be positioned in purpose speaking through barriers of discrimination, holding to Holy standards and living righteously before God and man: presenting herself as a sacrafice to God.

As Speaker, Writer, Psalmist and Musician; she allows God to use her in prophetic wordship and through signs and wonders.

She has undergone much emotional-, physical-, mental-, sexual- and spiritual abuse at the hands of her family, "friends" and ministry associates, yet she holds on.

She has also felt as Job felt, "Though He slay me, YET will I trust Him.”

Without a doubt that God has anointed and appointed her into ministry to prepare a people to receive the Kingdom and understand Kingdom Principles: she has come back on the scene boldly, proclaiming the Gospel as ministered by Jesus.

After much study, prayer and meditation, Tanya Alkhaliq has finally become able to accept herself and Love herself as she understands that God Loves her...UNCONDITIONALLY !

This is the Love that she gives to everyone she meets...UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE!

Hello Bishop Tanya, I thank God for your strength in him.  I work with teens all the time and they often have questions about intersex but not known really much about explaining it to them besides the definition.  It is truly great to meet you online, I'm sure you can share feelings and insights that I can share with the young people I work with in my Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program.  God bless you and you are in my prayers.
