I think way too many "Christians" are still confused when it comes to what God's business is. As a Pastor I see a lot of people every week with both problems and desires. Most are looking for solutions on how to either solve their problems or accomplish their desires. What many of us don't realize is the answer is the same of both - simply doing dad's business. This is where Christians too often get stuck! We think our father's business is about eliminating problems in our life, social reform, social aid, spiritual maturity, or position in the church or ministry. None of these is the task we have been given!!! We have been asked to do one thing, share the good news. In other words this needs to be job #1. Jesus said in John 4:34 "My food, is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work." What are we eating as Christians? We do not serve a gospel that promises to eleminate lifes problems, fix the world we live in, give us a position in the church, or make us spiritually mature. We serve a gospel of "good news" that says no one needs to live a life apart from God both in the here and now and for eternity. We serve a gospel with the power to change lives for ever. BUT the "Good News" needs to be shared, this is the father's business, what we need to be doing and the source of our answers. God will be with us in our problems, grant us our desires, and teach us to be spritually mature as we join in his business. Jesus didn't seek a problem free life, he didn't seek to feed the world, he didn't seek spiritual maturity, and he didn't seek position. However, through working in his Father's business God was with him in every problem, hunger and sickness will be eliminated, perfection was attained (Heb 4:7-10), and he is now seated at the right hand of his father. Maybe we should take a lesson from our "teacher" I pray I'm the first to really apply what I just wrote.
