To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
What this verse is telling you is that if you love your neighbours as yourself and you give to the poor and share the little food you have with the hungry and take the clothes you no longer need to charty and you remember once in a while to say thank you God for your provisions, and you smile to those that you pass on your way to and fro work, when you do these little little things to others there is no need for sacrifice. Do unto others as you would like it to be done unto you...
You don't even have to Fast... Fasting in the future to come will be called What have you given - up for lent today...
Have you given your smile? Shared your food and water? Stop to help the old folks cross the road? Do these simple things and see what big things the Lord will do in your life in return... Try him... Try the living God.
For me I have giving up blaming others for Lent... Its ALL my fault... I did it. Father in heaven forgive me. Amen...
