From the mid 1950's on I grew up at Osborne Neighborhood Church and was a regular church attender (mostly because my folks made me go, though when I was a teen I attended because I wanted to as well). I was in the youth group (Ed Stewart was our fearIess Youth Pastor), went to King's Canyon for summer camps (where I began dating my future wife, Laurie) and was in the Teen Choir (lead by Pattie Stiles). Those years are ones I will never forget.
I am #2 in the pecking order of my folk's (Bob & Dorie Hurst) seven children - Vern, me, Bobby, Craig (he died in 2006 from cancer), Bruce (he died in a car accident in 1974), Brad (he died in 1996 after a long illness) and Pammy.
My mom, Doris Lulu Hurst (she would be ticked to know I put her middle name on here), died in February 1998 from colon cancer. I miss her everyday!! She was a great mom who took such wonderful care of her big family.
My pop, Bob, is 82 and still lives at the family home in Sun Valley with my brother, Bobby. My pop has learned to cook and has quite a knack for it; in fact, he eats and cooks very healthy meals and I know my mom would be very proud of him. He and Bobby attend Valley Worship Center in Newhall.
My favorite hobbies are dirt bike riding with my son and friends, gold prospecting, metal detecting & dry washing at old mine sites in the desert, and spending time with family & friends.
Below is the video testimony of Nick Vujicic, a young man from Australia born with no arms or legs, who is dynamically serving the Lord in ministry. I really encourage you to take the time to watch this.
