I have been a part of the fabric of New Psalmist Baptist Church all of my life. My grandmother brought me there as a baby and I formally joined in 1966 at the age of 9. I grew up under the families of the North Avenue and Druid Hill New Psalmist location. I'm the person who calls out many names at years' end. Those former members raised me.
I've always participated in the choir and can sing my way through most things. I'm presently president of the Chancel Choir and that is an honor. My choir family is precious to me.
I love to act and can't wait until I can participate in a Joi Thomas production. One day we will read about her beginnings and her successes. We will all smile cause she is from NPBC!!
I am married (to the same man) for 25 years now. We have three sons whom I call the MBA - Melvin, Jr., Bereket, and Akil. I love the men in my life.
I am blessed to have one best friend who I can call my sister as well as my sister in Christ. Katrina is God-sent to me and I can't thank Him enough.
Teaching is my occupation as well as my purpose in life. I can do it anytime, anywhere cause that's why I was created. |
