Self Description: A Beaver. Mostly an observer until I feel "safe" enough around people to open up a little bit more (like in the case of my Video Room homies who've had a little insight into my goofy side, right guys?). I feel I can learn so much more from people by watching them interact with others.

Our Story: "For Every Good Girl There's a Bad Boy." When Joey and I met, we each had different lives. He was married. I was engaged and living with someone else. He was a believer, I was not. He was just a friend from work who would bug me from time to time, nothing more. We didn't speak much after he left the company until through mutual friends he found out that I had broken it off with my then fiance. At the same time he was in the middle of a seperation from his wife. He was also in the process of backsliding. We had lunch one day, and the rest was history.
We started a relationship despite his legally married status (not my proudest moment). We had a rough 3 years mostly because he was a heavy drinker. Although I wasn't a Christian (I was raised a Jehovah's Witness) I still knew that I deserved better. Sometimes he would disappear after an argument and not re-appear for a few days. A friend of mine at the time suggested that he was doing drugs. "Not Joey!" I thought, "He wouldn't!" I couldn't have been more wrong. I never knew that Joey used drugs. He was either very good at hiding it or I was very naive. After three years I couldn't take that lifestyle anymore and I broke it off. At the same time I started attending a Christian church called Crossroads. Every Sunday I was faithful and eventually I decided I wanted that lifestyle for myself. I lost contact with Joey -- changed my number and everything.
It was on a Wednesday I believe that he decided to visit VBF. He was so convicted by what Pastor Ron spoke about that he decided it was time to reconnect with God. He was still using Meth at the time, but he was determined to break his addiction. He came to see me at work and he shared his experience with me. Despite what my mind was telling me, I knew in my heart that he was a good man and that he could be so much more. I started attending Wednesday nights at VBF at his request and Sundays I was still going to my own church.
Was it easy? No. We went through a lot during that time of purging, but God was there in our midst. In fact, it was on VBF grounds, sitting on a couple of boulders one night that Joey and I decided to leave the past behind us and only look forward to a new life together. It was important for us to make a conscious decision that we would never bring up the past. Looking at numbers, it doesn't seem like too long ago. But looking at what our lives are now and what they were then it seems like a lifetime ago. I'm so thankful to God for the restoration he has brought into our lives. Every day he shows us little snapshots into the even better things he has in store for us. Will there be challenges? Of course. He never said it would be easy. He only said we'd never go alone. | | Interests
