| My name is Leah Johnson Sledge and I am a Child of the Most High, and the one and only true God. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio but moved every two to three years due to my father's job. I graduated from Rogers High School in Toledo, Ohio and matriculated to Kentucky State University where I received a B.A. degree in English along with certification to teach English at the secondary level. While in college, I was thoroughly active in the fine arts department by singing in the gospel ensemble (3 yrs), concert choir (1 year), marching band (4 yrs), symphonic band (4 yrs), KSU players (theater--3 years), and many other activities and organizations. I pledged Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. but due to time constraints, I have let that go because there was not enough room in my heart for the sorority and God. So, I had to make a choice and while I love all of my sisters dearly, none of them could ever do for me the things or give to me the love God gives. While in college, I met my husband of 12 years (August 2007) and God has blessed us beyond measure. In 1995, I began teaching English full-time at Fern Creek Traditional High School in Louisville, Kentucky and realized that teaching and working in the classroom was the right place for me to be. So many of those student touched my life to the point where they started calling me Mama, and they still do. After having 3 children, and receiving a Master's Degree from Indiana Weslyan University, we packed the family up to move to Misawa Japan where we thought we were going just to make some money and get out of debt. While this has happened, the Lord had other plans for our lives. God has taken full control of our beings and has taught us much. In the process, he has elevated my husband to the position of Elder and Pastor of Misawa Church of God in Christ which makes me the First Lady. In addition to being his wife, I am also a licensed Evangelist with my own God-purposed ministry to the nations.
