John & I have been attending VBF in Las Vegas since February of 2007...what a blessing it has been to us! John is originally from California, I am from Pennsylvania, we met in Las Vegas 22 years ago. Between the two of us we have 5 children and 2 grandchildren with another on the way. We were saved nine years ago while living in PA and "grew up" in a small, rural non-denominational church. A desire to serve, and lack of workers, had us involved in several areas of ministry such as men's & women's groups, youth group, church cleaning, worship team, and much more. When we came back to Las Vegas we knew the Lord was bringing us back as a testimony of lives He has changed. It took us nearly six months to find VBF, a time which I refer to as our "desert experience," for it was a struggle at times to be in Las Vegas without close Christian relationships. The day we came to VBF it was almost like walking into our church "back home", on a much larger scale, and it felt so right to be there, we have been there ever since.... John is a truckdriver, he hauls products from Los Angeles to Las Vegas from Sunday night thru Thursday. It can be a very stressful job and I'm sure lonely at times, so when you see a "big truck" in your way...remember to pray! Unfortunately, because of this schedule it is difficult for John to get involved in some of the things offered at church.... I work for the State of Nevada, at the Welfare Dept. in Senior Services. Basically, I am a caseworker taking care of the seniors food stamps and medical assistance. It's kinda neat for me because I can look back over the past eight years and see how the Lord has been preparing me for the position I am in now! I have been involved in the Tuesday night women's bible studies, serve Sunday mornings on the New Convert Ministry and the new Women In Action group... We have all our children in Las Vegas and many other family members, but are still in the process of making those "Christian Connections" and look forward to getting to know many more of our VBF brothers and sisters.....
