In my quest to express my love to God, I often think about the poem written by E.B. Browning in 1845 entitled "How Do I Love Thee". I don't know about you, but sometimes I struggle to express myself to God. I sing; I dance; I even write a little poetry myself - yet there are times when I feel I just can't express my love enough. Mrs. Browning wrote "How Do I Love Thee over 150 years ago. Although it was a love letter to her husband, I have found that it captures how I feel and what I want to express to God. I've adopted most of Mrs. Browning's poem as my love letter to God, especially on those days when I'm feeling particularly inadequate. "HOW DO I LOVE THEE" by EB Browning How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breath and height my soul can reach... I love thee to the level of everyday's most quiet need, by sunlight and candlelight. I love thee freely, as men strive for Right. I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise. I love thee with the passion put to use in my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith... I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death." This poem also expresses my deep love and affection for my husband - the most wonderful man in the world! (in my opinion - smile)
