I want to give a shout out to the youth of Lighthouse!   

I have the honor of teaching the youth Sunday School class this month (February) and it is such a blessing.  They have welcomed me into their class and have allowed me to get to know them better.  This past Sunday, we talked about "The Family of Faith" and talk about (1) how and why Christians are different; (2) distinguishing between joy based on circumstances and joy based on a relationship with God; (3) seeing faith from Christ's perspective. 

I really enjoyed the discussion about joy - so many opened up and shared what brought them joy.  One student shared that her house brought her joy because when she was little, she lived in a trailer park and was not allowed to play outside but when God blessed her family with a house, she was given the joy of being able to play outside and met friends. Another student shared how family brought joy to their life - and another also shared how God's continual protection over them and their parent brought them joy.

The youth at Lighthouse are awesome!  They are excited about God and about what He's doing in the Lighthouse Youth Ministry.

In my quest to express my love to God, I often think about the poem written by E.B. Browning in 1845 entitled "How Do I Love Thee".  I don't know about you, but sometimes I struggle to express myself to God.  I sing; I dance; I even write a little poetry myself - yet there are times when I feel I just can't express my love enough.  Mrs. Browning wrote "How Do I Love Thee over 150 years ago.  Although it was a love letter to her husband, I have found that it captures how I feel and what I want to express to God.  I've adopted most of Mrs. Browning's poem as my love letter to God, especially on those days when I'm feeling particularly inadequate.

How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  I love thee to the depth and breath and height my soul can reach...  I love thee to the level of everyday's most quiet need, by sunlight and candlelight.  I love thee freely, as men strive for Right.  I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.  I love thee with the passion put to use in my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith...  I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."

This poem also expresses my deep love and affection for my husband - the most wonderful man in the world! (in my opinion - smile)

o.k. I know I said this was confusing to get started with but it really is a great tool for us (Lighthouse) and others to stay connected with what's going on in our church and with each other.  So, if I (an old dinosaur) can get connected with Lighthouse's mychurch - I'm sure you can too.  Especially you leaders (smile!).  Love all of ya.
