About Me

Married, father of three boys. We have a 6 year old, a two year old, and one in heaven. I was born and raised in Central Illinois. I've lived in Maryland (6 years), Florida (4 years), North Carolina (3 years), and some time in Kentucky.

I have a B.S. in Business Administration from Pensacola Christian College. I've work for a major bank for about 12 years.

I was raised in a Christian home. The church I grew up in is an Independent Baptist Church. It was ultra fundamentalist, ultra sepratist. I felt that I got a good grounding in some of the basics of the Christian walk....scripture memorization especially...but anything closely resembling grace or forgiveness was sorely lacking. Hellfire and brimstone preaching abounded on a weekly basis...but very little to help one grow and live a fruitful Christian life.....I struggled with God for about 12 years as an adult....trying to understand how the concepts I was taught as a child applied in this crazy world we lived in. It wasn't until my wife and I lost our son Elijah that I began to understand Gods grace, forgiveness, peace, and strength.

My wife and I were led to a wonderful Christian Church in 2004. My wife became a believer and was baptized in July of that year. We've been members ever since. I minister via music in the church. I started off as a member of the choir, and then last year was approached by some other men in the church interested in starting a mens singing group. It was something that I had always desired to do. We formed a group of 5....we call ourselves "Men of Grace"...we have fun blessing and ministering via our music. Mainly we just sing in the church. But we've also conducted services for a few nursing homes...and we participated in the Menard County Interdenominational Music program this past summer at New Salem Park...that was a true blessing.

My goal for coming to MyChurch.org is to fellowship with other believers...share the thoughts that God has given me during my quiet time with Him...and learn and grow.

Books

Our work always has a book fair every year in November. This year, while looking for some books for my children, I came across the Daily Devotional bible by Max Lucado. It's a New Century Version. I can't tell you how much this has blessed me. The layout is amazing...devotional pages and thoughts are scattered throughout the text. There are thoughts for just about every text in the bible...I would highly encourage anyone looking for a study bible to pick this up.....God bless.
