Dearest friends on MyChurch...
I have witnessed, first hand, your compassion and love on this site for nearly a year.
Now I am asking for prayer for this "First Family" of a Southern California Mega Church. Please pray for their sudden loss, see below... and for the family that is left behind that has a baby due in a few months and a three year old to raise without a father.
A tragic loss that impacts thousands can be also used of God to the salvation of tens of thousands... and I pray for a miracle that God be glorified during this time of darkness and turn this tragedy around as He promises in His Word.
5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. I love this family and I CAN ONLY IMAGINE their feelings of loss, shock, numbness, devastation, etc. and thank you for the opportunity to ask you to join me in agreement and prayer for a mighty outpouring of comfort from the Holy Spirit for them. All of a sudden my own public devastation and circumstances don't seem so overwhelming.
I love you, Minister Melanie

Please Pray for Pastor Greg and the Laurie Family
Christopher Laurie, son of Pastor Greg Laurie and Cathe Laurie, was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning.
Christopher, 33, died in a car crash while driving to Harvest Christian Fellowship, where he had served as the church's art director for the past three years.
In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his lovely wife, Brittany, and daughter, Stella, pictured with him above... as well as his brother Jonathan. Christopher and his wife are expecting another daughter in November.
More information will be posted at harvest.org as details become available. In lieu of flowers, Harvest Christian Fellowship has established the Christopher Laurie Memorial Fund in memory of our friend, co-worker, family member, and brother in Christ. Proceeds from the fund will go to Brittany Laurie, Stella Laurie, and the soon-to-be baby daughter in order to assist them financially.
We ask that you pray for the Laurie family in this time of mourning. You may pass along your condolences and thoughts for the Laurie family by posting a comment at Pastor Greg's blog.

For I Know The Plans I Have For You… Jeremiah 29:11... we've heard this Scripture time and time again, but this time when I read it I immediately thought of Bubbles & Scott and their situation... seeing something a little different. In some sense this Scripture is referring to a loving God who is promising us wonderful things as long as we trust Him. There could be a little more to the 'story', let’s see. The Israelites had just been captured by the Babylonians. Many had died and those that survived were snatched from their homes and taken off to Babylon. They were discouraged, not only because of their predicament, but were also afraid their defeat was a sign that God had turned against them. But God said to them, “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7 Somehow if they were to ‘accept’ their 'punishment', and make the best of it by working for the peace and prosperity of those around them, then God was going to bless them. WOW, I had never seen that before! God was actually allowing them to be taken off to Babylon for His Purpose, but He was also promising to bring them BACK by His Plan.
He said, "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill My gracious promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile." Jeremiah 29:10-14
I know a few weeks from now, maybe a few months, we will look back on this time and see it with new eyes. We might even have a good laugh! In fact, we may be able to see exactly what God’s plans are for Scott and Bubbles, or you and me, in all of the uncommon situations we’ve been through this year. (Oh My Gosh, when it's time I'll share my 2008 story on here!!) His Plans we cannot see right now, but His Plans... we know that we know that we know that God is there all along... for His Purpose and His Glory.
If it does not appear that God is visibly moving in our defense at this very second, then we can be certain (through eyes of faith) that He is doing mighty things behind the scenes; in the meantime He is preparing us… to be more like Jesus, to be able to testify that He has brought us THROUGH it in order to encourage those who may still be facing it. The reason being… there IS a reason, we just need to make a decision to accept it, see it, believe it, and watch for it... for it shall surely come at the appointed time.
Hang in there and never give up on the brink of your miracle.
God bless you, love you all...

Did you ever see one of those fake apples people put in their coffee table fruit bowls? Could be plastic or painted wood, whatever?
They look real to the natural eye, but try biting into one! Sometimes we act just like that fake apple or orange… we sit there looking just right, we talk just right… but we just don’t act right!! Loving, caring, joyful, giving, patient, understanding, sweet, sharing are all evidence of the Spirit… real spiritual fruit. Painted plastic or wood looks good in the fruit bowl, but it is not the real thing. Here at MyChurch and there in our homes, community, workplace or church… are we sitting in a fruit bowl trying to look the part of an apple or orange? We may not be perfect but we are not fake either because we’ve been bought with a price, taking on the TRUE charisteristics of Jesus. We have been given the free opportunity and destiny to be the real deal.
I'm checking my life, my heart, my motives today and I'm going to act more like the real deal and make a conscious effort to display the fruit of the Spirit more often.
The next time someone bites into me, what am I gonna do... display His true fruit, that's my decision. P.S. Did you know that apples are NOT for fruit bowls anyway? ;-) Sure do love you... "Fruit of the Spirit" is a Scriptural term that sums up the nine visible attributes of a true Christian life. Galatians 5:22-23, these attributes are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. These are not individual "fruits" from which we pick and choose. Rather, the fruit of the Spirit is one ninefold "fruit" that characterizes all who truly walk in the Holy Spirit. Collectively, these are the fruits that all Christians should be producing in their new lives with Jesus Christ.

My friends... I have this (below) in a frame. it was taken off the wall at my Grandparent's ranch in Paso Robles, CA. They went to be with the Lord when I was young and I have carried this around with me ever since... putting it up on the wall in a place of importance wherever I go. It's a true, humble and beautiful picture of the Secret Place, Peace, His Presence and the Calming Power to "be still and know that I am God". It's something we can aim for in this lifetime. Attainable, maybe? Love you...
Humility ~~ – ~~
Humility is perpetual quietness of thought. It is to have no trouble.
It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore... to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me.
Humility is to be at rest when nobody praises me and when I am blamed or despised.
Humility is to have a blessed home within myself where I can go and shut the door and kneel to my Father in secret, and be at peace as a deep sea of calmness when around and about me is trouble.
