God is good and He is good all of the time!  Mt. Moriah emerged from the first African American Church in Sanford, FL.  The original church, donated by Mr. Sanford, was also named Mt. Moriah. The bell was donated by Mrs. Sanford.  The original church would have been well over 100 years old today, but it unfortunately burned to the ground over 80 years ago.  From that emerged two churches New Salem and Mt. Moriah and they both were of the Primitive Baptist denomination.  Now almost 90 years later Mt. is still holding it's ground. Under the leadership of the current Pastor, Rev. A.J. Washington, Sr., Mt. Moriah dropped the denomination and Mt. Moriah House of Prayer was born.

Rev. A.J. & Mo. Cathy Washington, Sr., are THE best leaders a church can have.  They have a heartfelt love for people in general, and their church family is their family.  They, along with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, have made Mt. Moriah a thriving body again.  September 2009 will be their ten anniversary of service at Mt. Moriah House of Prayer, and we pray there are many more.  Reverend Washington gives the pure, uncut, uncensored Gospel, but with ginuwine love.  He teaches and preaches out of love, and that's what makes him so effective.  He doesn't say just what people want to hear, but he says what we need to hear through the Holy Spirit.
