| Hi everyone, Once an Elder made the statement that God blessed us with our money and expected us to enjoy it. Is this the teaching of the scriptures? If I remember correctly, a scripture says to work so we will have to give to those who have not. What think ye?? Nelta

| Hi all, I see on this MYChurch there are several Pastors. Have you all noticed the word "pastor" is mentioned only once in the N.T. and it is listed with the special gifts in Cor. which have now ceased? BTW any one who wants to join my friends on my blog please do so. Love to all, Nelta

Something I wrote a few years back. DE-TRADITIONALIZING OURSELVES "Learn from me," said Martin Luther, "how difficult a thing it is to throw off errors confirmed by the example of all the world, and which, through long habit, have become a second nature to us. I had been seven years reading and publicly explaining the Holy Scriptures with great zeal, so that I knew them almost by heart. I had also, all the first fruits of knowledge and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ; that is to say, I knew that we are justified and saved not by our works, but by faith in Christ, and I even maintained openly that the pope is not the head of the Christian church by Divine right. And yet I could not see the consequences that flowed from this; namely, that the pope is necessarily and certainly of the devil. For what is not of God must needs be of the devil." Luther added further, "I no longer permit myself to be indignant against those who are still attached to the pope, since I, who had for so many years studied the Holy Scriptures so attentively, still clung with so much obstinacy to popery." We, like Luther, are slow to fully accept anything that is contrary to our present beliefs, even if those beliefs are false. Once we have been programmed with a belief, be it true or false, we will act as if it is true. We then instinctively seek to collect facts to support that belief no matter how false it might be. No one will be able to convince us otherwise unless through a personal experience that causes one to study scriptures without traditional blinders. The truth of the matter is then, that we and only we can de-traditionalize ourselves. Until then we seek only those experiences which support our present beliefs and avoid, resist, if necessary, forcibly REJECT those which are inconsistent with, or which threaten our present beliefs. When we become dissatisfied with the slavery of man's traditions and go to the source of the only light that can show the traditions up for what they are will we ever make a change? First a person might read an article. He might get angry because it does not further his present belief. He might get angry, however, a seed was planted. He then observes, through personal experience, the tradition he is steeped in, and is disturbed. This disturbance drives him to God's word. The light he allows to shine on the tradition is the only power that is able to show up the tradition. The article didn't show it up. The disturbance he felt didn't show it up. What showed it up was the power from the Light that came from God, as it penetrated the tradition and was then exposed. Before one will be willing to shine the light though, he must be willing to evaluate his present position. To do this he examine his motives. We know that God will judge our motives because what we do is done because OF our motives. What are our motives for our present beliefs? Were the beliefs carried over from childhood? Who programmed us to believe as we do on our beliefs? Where did we get the information that seeped into our minds? Have we had the mistaken certainty that there are others who are smarter, wiser, or more intelligent than we, enabling THEM to tell us what God's will is? If so our faith is in men, not in God. Someone said, "You can never have your faith shaken by the fall of another person unless you are leaning on that person for that faith." We all like to believe we are brave and will deny that we are cowardly which we believe to be the opposite. However, in reality the opposite of bravery is conformity. The brave person never invests another human being with power to speak to him for God. To be brave (courageous) is to seek God's will without the intimidations used today. Success and freedom in our spiritual journey will come only when we become totally free from man's traditions; free from placing others over us. Listen to what others have to say? Yes! Swallow what is said without shining God's Light upon it? Never! The reality of the scriptures is the same to all of us. The way we see, or react to that reality, will depend on how we have allowed our minds to be programmed. We cannot de-program ourselves until our motives are pure. Pure motives will guide us out of tradition and *back to Jerusalem.* Say, we that love the Lord! What is it that unites us together? Is it man's traditions or is it the living Spirit of the crucified Jesus? We cannot be de-traditionalized until we are de-programmed and then re-programmed by God Himself. FREEDOM IN CHRIST OR BONDAGE TO TRADITION? THE CHOICE IS OURS

| This was stolen from my daughter, Alice, who received it from a friend. Nelta <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< "THE ONE TRUE CHURCH" ONE Sabbath morn I roamed astray, And asked a Pilgrim for the way: "O tell me, whither shall I search, That I may find the one true Church He answered, "Search the world around; The one true Church is never found. Yon ivy on the abbey wall, Makes fair the falsest Church of all." But, fearing he had told me wrong, I cried, "Behold the entering throng!" He answered, "If a Church be true, It hath not many, but a few. Still following where the highway led, Till elms made arches overhead, We saw a spire and weathercock, And snow-white church upon a rock- A rock, where centuries before, Came sea-tossed pilgrims to the shore. My sandals straightway I unbound, Because the place was holy ground. I cried, "One church at last I find, That fetters not the human mind." "This church," said he, "is like the rest; For all are good, but none is best." Then far from every church we strayed- Save Nature's pillared aisles of shade. The squirrels ran to see us pass, And God's sweet breath was on the grass. I challenged all the creeds, and sought What truth, or lie, or both, they taught. I asked, "Had Augustine a fault?" The Pilgrim gazed at heaven's high vault, And answered, "Can a mortal eye Contain the sphere of all the sky?" I said, "The circle is too wide." "God's truth is wider!" he replied. "Though Augustine was on his knee, He saw, how, little he could see; Though Luther sought with burning heart, He caught the glory but in part; Though Calvin opened wide his soul, He comprehended not the whole. Not Luther, Calvin, Augustine, Saw visions such as I have seen." While yet he spake, a rapture stole Through all my still inquiring soul. I looked upon His holy brow, Entreating, "Tell me, who art THOU?" But such a splendor filled the place, I knew it was the Lord's own face! I was a sinner. and afraid! I knelt in dust, and thus I prayed: "O Christ, the Lord! end Thou my search, And lead me to the one true Church" He spake as never man may speak- "The one true Church thou shalt not seek, Seek thou, forevermore, instead, To find the one true Christ, its Head!" The Lord then vanished from my sight, And left me standing in the light.

| Good morning to all, After dodging trucks on the freeways for 12 hours yesterday I finally arrived back in Amarillo from Houston. Mike and I were talking about the subject of "group worship." My belief is that we worship God individually as we go about giving our bodies as living sacrifices to Him. When we get with other Christians it is for OUR benefit as we encourage and edify one another, as we walk the "narrow" road to heaven. If we think about it, even the Lord's Supper is not to worship God, but is that we may remember His sacrifice for us. The many examples in the scriptures (N.T.) were for encouragement as the Christians interacted with one another. The special gifts in Cor. were for this reason as EACH had a gift to use in the encouragment. So my question is: How important is it that we follow the examples in the N.T.? Just wondering, Nelta
