Emmaline (AKA Emily Shermer) posted about the cool group Leeland that performed at the Student Life Clarity tour, so I asked her who her favorite speaker was. I was really impressed with her answer:
I really liked Jeremy Kingsley becausehe was funny and cool and all, but David Platt's sermon really hit me hard, because he told us about a mission trip to Wheretheheckistan he went on and how he had to go through all of these procedures and stuff just so he could get to a room with 60 people crammed in it, about 1/2 the size of Mrs. Pam's classroom and all he did was read the Bible for 12 hours a day, for 14 days, and they just sat there and listened to him, even all the little kids, and how if the Word was enough for them, why can't it be enough for us. He talked about how sometimes we go to church expecting a bunch of funny stories and stuff but what we really need to focus on is God, and what a great change it would be if the Word was enough for us. I almost started crying.
"Now I'm turning you over to God, our marvelous God whose gracious Word can make you into what He wants you to be and give you everything you could possibly need in this community of holy friends." Acts 20:32
Amen, Emmaline! Amen!
