Is your church looking for a good back-to-school outreach idea? How about collecting backpacks and school supplies for needy families in the Knoxville area? I'd be happy to help you organize and promote it. Just let me know!
Salvation Army night at the park went well. We had a good turnout for the game and many people got the message about the food collection. The Smokies even cooperated by pounding the Carolina Mudcats 8-3. To top it all off, we were the lead story at 11:00 on WBIR TV. Click HERE for coverage.
The Tennessee Smokies will celebrate Salvation Army night as they welcome the Carolina Mudcats to Smokies Park, Friday, May 30. Game begins at 7:15. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item to the ballpark will receive a coupon worth $2 off their ticket. Donations will benefit The Salvation Army's food pantry. Fireworks will follow the game.
The Salvation Army spends $8000 a month to fill nearly 500 food orders. Requests for food assistance are up 25% over last year while donations have decreased.
Join us for the fun this Friday! Help us spread the word!
